School History:

This information is provided with huge thank to Monica Gamble who has been associated with our school for so many years. Monica has a wealth of information about the school.

If anyone has photographs of the early days of St. Anne's School - and  you can let us borrow them with a view to posting them on the website - we would be eternally grateful. We will scan and return any pictures straight away.

Hants Lane Site:

The school was originally located at Hants Lane, occupying the building now used by Newlands Builders.

Town End Site:

The building programme of work started at the Town End Site in June 1965.

September 1965:

Two temporary classrooms opened: Classes 3 and 4 transferred from the Hants Lane building. These temporary classrooms were originally located behind the church.

March 1966:

First phase of building work was completed (two classrooms, hall and kitchen.) Classes 3 and 4 transferred from the temporary classrooms to the Town End new buildings. At this point in time, second year classes moved from Hants Lane to the temporary classrooms.

March 1970:

The second phase of building was completed (4classrooms.) Two fourth year, two third year and two second year classes were now available in the new school building. At this time the two temporary classrooms were used for first year children.

March 1975:
